The parks, community gardens, and green spaces around Fleetwood are loved by human and insects alike.
For us, green spaces are a tranquil oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the town. However, for pollinators - such as bees, hoverflies, and butterflies - parks are sites of important activity. Pollinators rely on flowering plants for nectar and pollen to make food. At the same time, they pollinate the plants - a crucial step in plant reproduction! Without these pollinators, we wouldn't be able to grow delicious fruits and vegetables.
It is not just the tidy beds and profusions of flowers in the parks that are vital - it is also the weeds between the cracks and wild flowers on empty landscapes.
