Stop 3: Ferry Beach

The Red Falcon Take me here now

Hear the 'Red Falcon' poem read aloud by a young girl.

The Red Falcon

The sea can be unpredictable and dangerous.

The Fisherman’s Memorial was set up to honour the fishermen who did not make it home, while the Welcome Home Statue commemorates the families of fishermen who waited patiently on the shore for their husbands, fathers, sons, and brothers to come home.

The Red Falcon poem is an ode to the 19 souls who were lost when the Red Falcon Trawler sank in 1959.
